A press conference to launch the 60th anniversary of the National Championships for the physically disabled was held at the Birchwood hotel and conference centre in Ekurhuleni today.
Toyota is excited to be part of the South African Sport Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) Championship yet again. This year’s championships will take place in Gauteng and hosted by the City of Ekurhuleni from 18-22 March and will feature Para Athletics, Para Powerlifting, Boccia, Para-Cycling, Goalball, CP Football and Judo for the blind. The slogan for the championships in 2022 is “Start your impossible” in a year that is set to unveil the next generation of rising stars.
Toyota, an international partner to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, says “As the Worldwide Official Mobility Partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota shares the vision to inspire people to push onward – past their finish line, past their impossible.”
START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE
Toyota’s theme for the Olympic and Paralympic Games is Start your Impossible. This was the brand’s first global campaign, conceptualised in 2018 to reflect the Olympic and Paralympic spirit of encouragement, challenge and progress.
It is an impassioned call to action which is designed to create a more inclusive and sustainable society in which every single human being is encouraged to reach for and attain his or her personal best.
This notion reinforces Toyota’s goal of moving from an automobile – to a mobility company that highlights real-life mobility stories, as well as everyday people and athletes who demonstrate the values of humility, hard work and tenacity in the face of adversity.
Toyota continues their support SASAPD to promote the sporting codes offered at Paralympic level for athletes with disabilities. The vision is now Paris 2024.
“At Toyota, we believe that movement and mobility in all its definitions is all around us. Sport has the power to connect people. This is where we learn the true power of sport – it can challenge us, inspire us and, most importantly, unify us,” states Toyota South Africa.
“As the Worldwide Official Mobility Partner of the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee, Toyota shares the vision to inspire people to push onward – past their finish line, past their impossible. We have seen so many examples of people achieving the impossible at the SASAPD National Championships.
